Latin and South America Field Director

Steven Fanning

Regional Director of Latin, Central and South America

Steven and Darlene Fanning began serving as missionaries when they arrived in Bolivia, South America in 2001. While they served in many different cities of Bolivia, and other countries in South America as a whole, their focus was the capital city of La Paz. There they started Anchor Baptist Church, the only known independent Baptist church in the downtown district of La Paz.  This church has grown over the years and now supports multiple missionaries in South America and around the world. The Fannings have helped start the Andes Independent Baptist Preachers Fellowship and a youth camp in the La Paz region.  Though they have now moved out of Bolivia as full-time missionaries, they still have the desire and are working to start the Anchor Baptist Missionary Training Center in the Andes, a training center centered around the preparation and sending out of nationals across the world.

In 2017 their pastor and President of ABMI, Dr. Randy C. Barton asked the Fannings to take the role of Latin, Central and South American Regional Mission Director.  While still doing as much as possible in Bolivia, their main responsibility now is to assist ABMI Mission Director Dr. Duain Whittemore in the operations of the mission board.  The Fannings visit, support and observe our ABMI missionaries on the field.  Their goal is to encourage the missionary while on the field and then report back to the missionary’s supporting churches.

Steven and Darlene Fanning are members of Anchor Baptist Church in Pisgah Forest, NC.  They have 3 grown children, Jacob, Breanna and Levi.
